Welcome to my new series that adapts rhythmic gymnastics tricks for hula hoop dance. I take a few action-packed seconds of a rhythmic gymnastics hoop routine and break it down to make it a combination you can learn. We kick off with 17 year old USA gymnast Laura Zeng, and the first few seconds of her beautiful routine from the qualifying rounds in 2015.

The tricks discussed in this tutorial are:
1) beginning pose and transitions into that pose
2) small split jump
3) outside balance isolation
4) iso grab
5) transition to arm hooping, hoop spinning backwards
