What is Alexa? Alexa is Amazon’s voice service and the brain behind tens of millions of devices like the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show. Alexa provides capabilities, or skills, that enable customers to create a more personalized experience. There are now more than 25,000 skills from companies like Starbucks, Uber, and Capital One as well as other innovative designers and developers. Alexa is designed for voice recognition so that when a person issues a voice command, Alexa understands and provides a reply to questions in seconds. Amazon is also investing in innovators who program or design for Alexa-enabled devices and honors those who continue to teach and enhance how Amazon Alexa communicates with the world.
