I am happy to welcome you to the first issue of #ICMLive. This is the official digital newsletter of the 31st International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) Triennial Congress, which will bring you rich conversation on midwifery issues and solutions on maternal health.
Experts from over 110 countries will be gathering in Toronto for the next coming days, I am greatly humbled to welcome all of you to Toronto, we are indeed honored to have you participate and share your knowledge in our Congress. We have also reached a new record with over 700 presentations and 500 posters on display, indeed there is an extensive range of subjects to choose from.
The Congress is a leading forum in midwifery with the aim of achieving progress in the care of pregnant women, mothers, newborns and their families; and ensuring that midwifery is a stand-alone profession.
To our partners, we thank you for all the support that you have provided us over the years as we cannot advocate for change of policies, better working conditions and recognition alone. We count on our local and global partners because we are stronger together.
