I have a broken toe, so my surgeon prescribed me a 5000 units/0.2ml Fragmin injections to do one a day every day until my toe is ok. It's not true it doesn't hurt, but it's doable, even for a freak like me, besides I'd rather do that than die from a blood clot.
First, wash your hands. Then swab a cotton pad with any alcohol and dab it onto a place on your belly (alternatively tigh, but I haven't tried it yet) where you're planning to inject the needle. Take about an inch of the skin between a pointing finger and a thumb and hold it firmly through all time of an injection. You need to aim ideally at 90 degrees angle between the needle and your belly, as it won't bruise that way - tested on me and works so far. Put all the needle inside slowly and then inject all the medicine with your other hand's pointing finger. Slowly take the needle out, put a cotton pad with an alcohol to the place the needle just came out, hold it for 10-15 secs, and voila! Don't rub or squeeze the skin, as it hurts enough left by itself - only for about 5 mins though.
Remember to change the place of injection every time - I do it on one side of the belly one day, and then on the other on another.
