An outstanding advocate for the arts in Canada George was responsible for creating one of the most successful music subscriptions series in history -- the White Rock
Concert Series. Subscriptions for this concert series with over 800 subscribers, has been sold out with hundreds on the waiting list for over a decade.

George is a person of extraordinary imagination and energy with a passion for performing and music education. He is the world's preeminent bassoonist; he's played with all of the world's great orchestras. George has completed 40 world tours and has the distinction of being the first bassoonist to solo with the Chinese National Symphony.

George has been a tireless advocate for music in schools. He frequently visits and performs in remote communities in Northern Canada. He created his own interactive show, the Great Mozart Hunt which he has performed around the world and more recently in Surrey with the Surrey City Orchestra.

George is a recipient of the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia, living quietly in our midst; his nominators describe him as a "Canadian Treasure"
and feel that now he must be recognized as a Surrey Civic Treasure!
