I caught this large rainbow trout and one of the four fishermen asked me, "Is that a trout?"
I thought it was a brownie, but it's a rainbow trout. And you could hear the man say, "Holy cow!"
As I was cleaning the fish, I saw two hooks in the trout's belly. My hook was deeply imbedded in its gut, but there was another rusty hook attached a couple of inches away. The large, rusty hook still shows some of the fishing line that the fish snapped. This tells me that another fisherman hooked this trout a few months ago and it furiously fought until it snapped the 8-lb line.
I was expecting this fish to break my 6-lb line. It fought hard. It tried to get the line snagged around the boulders. I had to quickly drag it off the rocks.
The meat from this feisty fish was very pink, as pink as a wild salmon's.
He delivered a furious battle.
I would have done the same if I were about to become dinner.
