It was a beautiful day as family, friends and players drove the 100 plus miles to Loomis, CA for a rematch against Placer United. The girls of FC knew from previous experience that it was going to be a fast and physical game. The defense for both teams ruled the first half of play with few opportunities to shoot on goal.
In the second half the intensity seemed to be cranked up as both teams fought to score. Taking advantage of several free kicks Marin kept up the pressure on the United defense. The FC midfield and offense did a great job keeping the ball forward. Lacy Baumbaugh kept pressure on the Placer goalie who erred in making a pass which Lacy took advantage of giving Marin a 1-0 lead! Tough competitors, Placer United tried to fight back but the FC defense remained focused, as the game became more physical. With time winding down Marin took advantage of a United foul and the resulting free kick led to an FC corner kick. Lacy Baumbaugh was once again in the perfect place to strike goal number two for Marin FC! Thanks to Coach Josh Kalkstein for filling in for Coach Carbone! Go Marin FC!
