This is video of David dressed in his white power ranger costume at Anime St. Louis 2010 getting some rather boisterous attention from some gentlemen we encountered. These guys had just won a Street Fighter championship at the convention inside. Check out Steve's video here for more on his gaming career. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgE9wl....

THE LOCATION IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE GHETTO and since the title has attracted some controversy, I'll attempt to qualify it with a few points.

1. This is youtube. Video titles are selected in order to generate views. I have succeeded a little. Welcome to youtube. That being said, however. . . .

2. Wikipedia defines Ghetto as: "A part of a city in which members of a minority group live, especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure." By itself it has no ethnic/racial meaning whatsoever, but in this context the viewer is left to assume that the implicit minority are the African American nerds being filmed. But these guys didn't look like they were from any Ghetto. We didn't encounter them in a Ghetto. But again, "Ghetto" isn't a word that describes race. It describes society and in our society it is a word that has associations in pop culture with certain kinds of language. This video is full of that kind of language and so it evokes a strong stereotype. It's the whole reason the video is funny. Furthermore . . . .

3. Before I started filming I asked the guys to really pour on the cheese so I could film their reactions. We all bonded over the enthusiasm. They were all nice guys.
