Fabled Asp at Dyke March- Year of Honoring Lesbians with Disabilities, take 2
The Title: Honoring Disabled Dykes: SF 2010

Description: http://fabledasp.com
San Francisco: June, 2010, Dyke March. Disabled lesbians walked, rode the Parade bus, rode electric scooters and wheelchairs, used crutches, canes, came with friends, allies, or on their own to show the world the contributions of disabled lesbians and asking to be honored.

The history of disabled lesbians is one that has largely been omitted, obscured, or misappropriated. When we look at historical timelines and archives, we often do not see our names, even though disabled lesbians have been at the forefront of innovations in community, arts, culture, and social justice movements. Fabled ASP, an organization founded by Dr. Laura Rifkin with Jill Lessing addresses these issues through documenting and celebrating the history of Bay Area disabled lesbian activists. To date, we have collected over 80 stories in four different mediums, declared 2010 the Year of Honoring Lesbians with Disabilities in the Bay Area, put on a 40 year retrospective exhibition documenting movers and shakers in the fight for social justice. The virtual exhibition will be available soon on interactive CD-Rom. Fabledaspdotcom
