I am actually the first person to speed run Castlevania 4 and make full speed runs of the game and upload it to the internet. At the time, I had no other Castlevania 4 speed runs to look at, so everything you see in the run are my own original routes and strats.

I made this full speed run back in 1999, and uploaded it to Zophars Domain at:

http://zsnes.zophar.net/zmv/ (under the name Paul Lucas)

I then continued to update them until 2002. The original "updated" emulator files can be downloaded here:

http://www.zophar.net/download_file/5460

If you read the "readthis.txt" file, you will see 2.5 years after I made the original (in 1999) I then redid some of the levels quicker (in 2002), including the Chandelier section the pro way, and level 6 and 7 quicker as well (still all my own strats). The video above is the original one without the improvements I made later in 2001 - 2002, that's why I got confused on some parts during the video like the swinging chandelier section, which I did figure out how to do it perfectly later on.

Right after that the first TAS runs of the game came out, then a few years after that people started doing full single segment runs of the entire game while I moved on to other games.

I was really into speed running this game back then and even made a website about it here: http://paultwo.8k.com/castlevania4.html (the site is abandoned now)

I still have full intentions to speed run this game again and get records.

So now you know who did a lot of the original strats and techniques for Castlevania 4.
