Elizabeth Loftus is Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Irvine, where she holds positions in the Psychology, Criminology, Social Behavior, and Cognitive Sciences Departments, as well as the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory. One of the most influential psychological researchers of the 20th century, she is best known for her ground-breaking work on the misinformation effect and eyewitness memory and the creation and nature of false memories. Professor Loftus is the author of 24 books and over 500 journal articles and has received countless awards including the 2003 Distinguished Scientific Applications of Psychology Award from the American Psychological Association and the 2010 Scientific Freedom and Responsibility Award from the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
