Not content with mere construction, I decide to visit the more lethal aspects of Minecraft once more.

After a lot of testing of different methods with mixed results, this is the final model of my drowning trap. As is quite obvious, the trap is far from subtle, with walls and a ceiling made of gravel supported by torches that a player traveling through the tunnel can easily see. The walls and blockades were also kept at a minimum height in order to keep the water from flooding out of the "cage", as it were, but if your unfortunate victim happens to start digging, the walls will need to be higher to effectively prevent their escape.

The only thing that isn't shown in the video is how the water is stored in a basin directly above the gravel roof. It's technically possible to destroy the fake roof using TNT, but only if you're willing to gather a lot more resources just to make the trap believable. Obsidian walls in particular can get very costly over the length of the tunnel, and the trap does have a minimum distance requirement.
