A piece for flugelhorn and organ, written with Maundy (Holy) Thursday in mind. It tries to convey the peculiar emotional mixture of dread and tenderness, reluctance and sense of duty, uncertainty and determination, fear and expectation, friendship and treason, farewell and fulfilment that gives the day its tense atmosphere. Selected lines from H. O. C. Zinck's setting (1801) of Thomas Aqunias' "Zion, to Thy Savior singing" (Lauda Sion Salvatorem) are used in the second and third parts of the short three-part piece. The screencast shows how the piece sounds and looks in Notion 3, in this case with organ and flugelhorn samples form Miroslav Philharmonik (since samples for these instruments are not natively included in Notion yet). The piece was premiered in Norway during Easter 2011. Please visit my home page at www.faidros.no for more information about my work.
