The song, "Something Else Altogether, was produced by Dan Borgers and composed by Michael Z. Gordon (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1140093/) and Jimmy Griffin. Jimmy died of cancer in 2005. This was the last song he ever recorded before he passed away. He was a great guy and had an incredible voice. He will be missed by all. Gordon went on to become a successful movie producer and won two BMI Awards for his songs, "Apologize" and "Out Of Limits" by the Marketts, one of two groups founded by Gordon during his six years touring with The Routers and The Marketts
This movie was produced in 2004 under the title "The Devil and Daniel Webster".and subsequently changed to "Shortcut To Happiness". The film starred Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Dan Akroyd (of Saturday Night Live). Produced by Michael Z. Gordon in 2001, the song that you are listening to was originally slated to be the title song over opening credits. It never made it because the bank financing the movie went bankrupt. In spite of it being a great song -- it could have been a contender for an Oscar for best song from a feature film but this $30MM movie couldn't be released.
The bank that was financing the movie went out of business and the FDIC took over the film demanding the $16,000,000 which the bank had put into the movie. Finally in 2007, Bob Yari bought the film for a fraction of the cost and it was finally released overseas under the new title of "Shortcut To Happiness". Unfortunately not many people got a chance to see this film.
The original version of the film was much better than the final cut that was released, so the only copies that are left of the original movie are in Michael's library. So I guess MZG owns a $30,000,000 DVD.
