When it comes to green jobs in the electricity generation sector - nuclear energy is the leader.
Last year the Bureau of Labor Statistics identified all the green jobs that existed in the U.S. in 2010. (http://www.bls.gov/opub/mlr/2013/01/a...) Nuclear energy was far and away the largest contributor.
The men and women of Columbia Generating Station are proud to play a role in powering our clean energy future.
Columbia, the Northwest's only nuclear energy facility, is a significant full-time source of clean, cost-effective energy.
But it is also an economic engine, spurring more than $440 million in economic activity each year; the state tax revenue derived from its electricity generation helps local communities; and it's team members contribute to local non-profits, such as Head Start, the March of Dimes and the United Way.
