Shane Dorian's Keiki Surf Classic was held at Lyman's on the Kona side of the Big Island of Hawaii on Saturday, January 19. The low-key, down-home event provides a free entry for local kids to participate in a prestigious competition that is fun for the whole family.
This is the 18th continuous year for the Classic, but this season, due to a sizeable swell in the water, the contest was forced to move from its normal spot at Banyan's down to Komoa Point, which is basically next door.
In keeping with a Keiki Classic tradition, a tight group of top pros showed up to support the event including Matt Meola, CJ Kanuha, Zeke Lau, Kelly Slater, Torrey Meister and Keanu Asing.
Also donating their time and photographic expertise were four of the island's top lensmen: Ehitu Keeling, Ryan Moss, Christian Lacuesta and Kirk Aeder.
Following are the complete results:
Girls 13 & under 1) Kiana Briggs 2) Mehana Resetnikov 3) Keelie Carlucci 4) Chloe Smith 5) Kona Resetnikov
