Barry MacDonald is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, educator, and international advocate for learners—especially boys—who struggle with traditional classroom learning. As the founder of MentoringBoys.com and best-selling author of Boy Smarts, he is a sought after speaker and consultant who helps parents, school staff, and community leaders respond to the diverse needs of boys in empathic, imaginative ways.

Barry, whose ideas have been presented on radio, television, and in numerous print media, was identified as one of 25 Influential People to Watch by the Vancouver Sun for his innovative approaches to mentoring boys for success.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDxUBC, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxUBC event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
