Jennifer Brice has taught creative nonfiction writing and literature at Colgate since 2003: she once worked as a newspaper reporter. Unlearning to Fly, a memoir in essays, is her latest book. She is also the author of The Last Settlers, a work of literary journalism about homesteaders in Alaska. Her articles have appeared in such journals as The Gettysburg Review, Manoa, and River Teeth. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, she is a Smith College graduate. Her MFA is from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. In addition to teaching creative nonfiction and memoir at Colgate University, she serves as the Associate Director of its University Press.
