Michael Chesley Johnson leads weeklong, half-day plein air workshops in the summer at his studio gallery in Lubec, Maine. Lubec offers a wealth of material for the painter, including bold cliffs, quiet beaches, lighthouses and a historic fishing village.

Lubec sits right on the US/Canadian border. Just across the bridge from Lubec is Campobello Island. This Canadian island was made famous by the US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, whose family had a summer cottage on the island. Over one-third of the island consists of parklands and provides plenty of opportunity for exploration.

Workshops are half-days only. Paint half the day and then explore Lubec and Campobello Island the other half!

All media welcome. (Michael will work in pastel and oil.) Small workshop size! Take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a small workshop - it's rare in the world of art workshops!

Also more advanced plein air painting workshops for the experienced painter.
