First Berklee College of Music FS-471 Advanced Scoring for Games assignment, using Wwise.
The music is set up so that the game swaps from section to section based on position in the level, with triggers set up to move the music from one section to the next.
Additionally, each main section contains two different versions, that swap depending on Sonic's performance.
The music is designed to help tell the story of the level, rather than just playing a single musical track on loop. For example, the triggers and composition is set up so that the guitar solo will kick in on the clock tower grind every time, regardless of how fast or slow players progress through the level.
Oh, re: song titles, there originally was supposed to be a 3rd genre for extremely poor performance, which would have been called "Be Groovy" but it wasn't working as intended. Oh well. :P Failed easter egg.
