The Backwards Music Station was found on various frequencies on the short wave band until about 2004 with the transmissions apparently coming from both the United States and in England. There are debates whether the station is some complex form of communication known as LINCOMPEX or whether it's simply feedback from Naval transmitters. Despite the debate, the sounds are still rather unearthly.
And may I say as a long time Cracked reader, it was surely quite a surprise to have one of my "videos" be a part of a Cracked article, and quite an entertaining article at that. (hey remember the "News on Cracked"? Man! That guy sucked.
It should be noted, now that this video has gotten a bit popular, that this recording as well as other number station recordings on my channel all derive from "The Conet Project" a 4 disc collection of number station recordings that can easily be found for free online. It comes with my seal of approval.
