Anglophile Alert !! Sir William Walton's evocative Britannic masterpiece, performed on one of the world's largest pipe organs. This piece was first performed (in orchestral version) at the coronation of George VI.
The solo reed heard throughout most of the piece is Ernest Skinner's magnificent Tuba Mirabilis in the Solo division. The hair-raising Trompette-en-Chamade makes its presence known at around 6:58.
Scott Dettra is the cathedral's prinicipal organist.
