:60 with Brett Young
Brett Young was a star pitcher in college, but his baseball career ended when he suffered an elbow injury. In the wake of that misfortune, he decided to focus on his other passion: making music. The Anaheim native's prime inspiration was Gavin DeGraw. He honed his craft in LA before moving to Nashville, and has coined a word to describe his life's path: “Caliville.” He says the term “represents more than my personal journey. It's about going after what you want and not letting anybody else discourage you.” And that mindset has thrived in Music City: his debut “Sleep Without You,” hit No. 3 on Billboard's Hot Country chart (the video has almost 20M views), and he’s toured with Brad Paisley and Justin Moore. In our ‘:60 with’ session he talked about Nolan Ryan, his fave vacation spot, a certain Shania Twain song, and lots more.
