Kelly A. Wing, 39, Appleton, died violently Friday, April 17, 2009, at her home. She was shot by her husband Appleton Fire Department Lieutenant Scott Schmidt, who also shot Kelly's mother Barbara Wing - who survived.

Scott Schmidt was charged Monday, April 20, 2009, with first-degree intentional homicide in the slaying of his estranged wife, Kelly Wing-Schmidt, outside her Grand Chute home. He is also charged with first-degree attempted homicide in the wounding of his mother-in-law, who attempted to intervene in a fight between the couple.. Kelly now leaves behind five children.
