The Mediterranean fruit fly – or Medfly for short – is one of the world’s most destructive fruit pests. Female flies cause damage by laying their eggs in fruit and vegetables, leading to economic losses and trade bans. A nuclear technology, known as the Sterile Insect Technique, can be used alongside other methods to tackle this fruit fly. This film, shot on location in Guatemala, provides an insight into the life of a sterile Medfly.
