Carey Beebe diagnozing and rectifying an Institutional harpsichord in limited time.

Limited time was available for onsite diagnosis and rectification of the main problems being experienced on a 2004 Zuckermann 63-note French Double Harpsichord, delivered new to the other side of the world.

The following work was carried out, leaving the instrument fully playable:
• Replace twenty odd strings which had incorrect material, poor loops and/or inadequate tuning pin windings
• Remove upper keyboard, ease balance mortise holes, repunch mortises
• Check & adjust key tilt, level & spacing of both keyboards
• Replace RHBWS lower guide screws with FHSWS to remove knocking hazard with upper manual keys
• Remove back 8´ jacks & extract back 8´ register, plane thinner to reduce stoplever interference
• Adjust register positions
• Tighten stoplever and buff batten fulcrum screws
• Quick check voicing & regulation
• Lower action in case
• Adjust dampers
• Fit cloth to bass jackrail housing, adjust fit of jackrail treble end to suit
• Dust soundboard & wrestplank areas
