We sit through some pretty bad games on WorldMinusOne.net "Adventures On Channel 3"; This game is different. this game is SPECIAL. Possibly the best NES game ever made that barely anyone got to play....

Ryan playing through the incredibly rare Mr. Gimmick! on the NES and achieving the true ending to the game. the guidelines for the true ending are:
1) beat the game without using a continue
2) beat the game while finding the 6 special items that are throughout the game (1 per level)
you'll see with the playthrough that the items are in hard to reach areas where you have to master tricky jumps and star shots.
the bosses are pretty smart as far as aggressiveness and overall annoyance. the HUD is messed up because i am using the PAL formatted game that was released in limited quantities in Scandinavia. from what i understand, even the mighty top loader won't play this game properly. because of this handicap, i had to figure out what each glitched pixel in the hud meant during my run. if you compare my screen to http://www.retrousb.com/images/gkc.png, you'll notice my experience was a whole different animal. i have the manual but it's in german and has black and white text. i had to figure out what each potion and item did and how to actually use them through trial and error.
with all the 'on the fly' learning i had to do with this game, it was still quite enjoyable and i highly suggest it to anybody who wants a tough platformer to get frustrated with until Battlekid 2 (nes) comes out later this year.
from what i understand, the PAL version started you off with 10 lives. the japanese version started you off with 4 lives. this obviously made the true ending harder to achieve. i'm pretty sure i beat this game in less than 4 lives so i wouldn't have had problems achieving the true ending in the japanese version. enjoy!
