Awesome 3D Printing Adventure with Shapeways in Eindhoven, Netherlands! I was lucky to get an inside look at how Shapeways functions from receiving and processing customer models to post-processing and shipping!

Included in this video is an interview with Shapeway's Community Manager, Bart Veldhuizen, who is a top notch 3D printing resource! Thanks again Bart!

Extra Information:

Customer Model Arrangement in Printers - Lots of customer models are virtually assembled like Tetris pieces into a printer's known X, Y, Z "chamber limits". No algorithms are used for "bumping" so the models need to be arranged correctly or a model is inside another!

Customer Service - Management extensively detailed how they help their customers. "Passion like Zappos", "a customer is assigned an agent for life for relationship building", and the "use of filtering algorithms" to find the most urgent customer requests. (Keywords were mentioned but respectfully I can not share haha!)

Materials - The amount of materials to print is endless and expanding. Nylons are everywhere, silver models are contracted out but the initial steps are printed at Shapeways, and waste materials are being stored to be recycled in the future when technology allows.

Additionally, they have an ex-Toyota manager for quality, the work environment resembles Google's relaxed culture, and it's a happy environment!
