I was trying to capture a white breasted nuthatch that has been hanging around my feeder recently. I had been taping for a while and wondered why it hadn't come back. I then stuck my head around to look out the window. I saw a decent size creature on my compost bin about 20 ft. from the window. It had its head turned so I thought it was a cat at first. I then realized it was a bird of prey and quickly moved to camera over to catch some footage. Luckily, the camera was able to focus in just before he flew away. It was amazing. I have never seen a hawk anywhere in town before so it was a treat. I didn't get the nuthatch that day but I can settle for a hawk.
I don't know if it's a red tailed hawk, a cooper's hawk, or a different species. If you can possibly identify it, let me know. I live in Indiana by the way. Thanks!
