You can keep your fancy jazz licks, your record setting banjo duels, what really sets the men apart from the boys (so to speak), is the ability to make your banjo sound like a chicken. This old reel is the archetypal chicken tune, the one to which all others pay homage. Ed is playing clawhammer style in double C tuning, capoed on the 2nd fret. I am three-finger picking in open D tuning. We done the best we could with it.
