The hit of the 1939 New York Worlds Fair was General Motors pavilion that featured a mechanical diorama that transformed a rural America into a futuristic urban landscape of elevated highways. It was a vision that GM had to park during the War but after the War it helped to transform America into its vision of an auto centric country.
