Equal parts performance, style and luxury, the 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 was a well-dressed street fighter with enough creature comforts to satisfy the general public. It was a successful venture for Olds and examples like this convertible are great reminders why.

The beneficiary of an extensive frame-off restoration, this 442 claimed first place in its class at the 2007 Oldsmobile Nationals before going into private storage. The level of care spent on both restoring and maintaining the car is evident from the first look at its Saffron Yellow paintwork. Even and smooth, there are simply no bad angles on this car. Fit and finish is equally impressive with even gaps all around.

From the four T3 headlights to the 442-exclusive trumpet exhaust tips, every piece of brightwork on this Olds has either been restored or replaced with the highest quality aftermarket parts available. Up top, a nicely fitted black convertible top protects the interior and offers contrast against the yellow paint.

Underneath the hood, the original 400 cubic inch V8 remains in its home. Rated at 350hp and 440 ft. lbs. of torque from the factory, there is no shortage of power on tap. Up top, a correct Rochester Quadrajet feeds fuel through the factory intake and into proper "C" heads. Restored cast iron exhaust manifolds channel spent gasses out a factory-style exhaust system that offers a great rumble. From GM reproduction hoses to correct grease pencil markings and decals, nearly everything under the hood retains its original style.

Backing that V8 is a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to a 12-bolt rear end. The suspension has been left within factory specifications with double A-arms and stiff coil springs supporting the front end while a stock 4-link with boxed lower control arms and a rear sway bar keep the back end planted. Power steering and power brakes make driving virtually effortless. At the corners, 15 inch Super Sport II wheels are wrapped in period-correct redline tires.

Inside, the code 937 Parchment interior is comfortable and appealing. From air conditioning, power windows, rally pack gauges and AM/FM radio to the rare reclining passenger seat, the original owner checked off most of the options list. Fully restored, this 442 offers tons of amenities in a high performance shell.

Included in the sale of this car is an original owner's manual that covers all the 442's finer points in GM lingo.
