This simulator was created to train soldiers going to Afghanistan to spot improvised explosive devices in the road ahead. It also allows the soldiers to experience what a detonation might be like, using wrap around hi definition screens and a motion base invented by theme park designers. The hope is that soldier who experience this will be better prepared to function if they are in a real situation. The director of the high def video images was Randal Kleiser, who also directed the 70mm 3D attraction "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" now playing at Disney parks in Tokyo, Paris, California and Florida.
