Several users have had issues with "Silent Call Reboot Issues" with there Photon 4G devices.
I personally have exchanged this model 6 times within approximately 4 weeks and have had the same identical problem where switching from speaker to ear piece will garble the audio. Then the very next call outgoing or receiving is muted completely and reboots. Usually the subsequent outgoing call will indicate "connecting" from 20 to 45 seconds then reboots. Sprint and Motorola both have indicated they have not heard of the issue...

Sprint Tech Support says it may be an App or a combination of apps causing the problem.
Apps I run are Yahoo Messenger, Skype, Zedge, World Weather Widget. I am performing a process by elimination by adding the a widget from the market every 72 hours and document progress here considering that is the approximate time frame which the problem begins.
