Following several requests to post this song, here it is - a traditional song, thought to be very old and probably originating in Scotland, but being popular in Appalachian America too, from where it was rediscovered, around 1915 - likely having been brought in by Scots immigrants, I'm guessing...?!?
Guitar tuning is DADGAD and I play the newer tune for the most part, but drop in a phrase from the older original tune, as a refrain line, to end each verse. Wikipedia has full and interesting info of the song, at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Is...)
