Renowned analyst and columnist, Nazir Naji, discusses Pakistan's export of terrorism and the horrific consequences of this practice for the country. He explains how: (a) terrorists have become an integral part of society and will be very difficult to weed out; (b) Pakistan is rightly guilty in the world's eyes of exporting terrorism and repeated denials will not absolve it of its guilt; (c) terrorists now pose an existential threat to the state and the first corrective step is recognition of the existence of the problem; and (d) national sovereignty must be treated as sacrosanct and the public should realize that terrorists acts are an attack on national sovereignty. Mr. Najir paints a depressingly accurate picture of Pak leadership and public by pointing out: (e) Pakistanis have always had difficulty in identifying and focusing on key issues; and (f) by the time Pak leaders and public wake up to the real issues, it is often too late. This interview was recorded in April 2009.
