2014-04 UPDATE: Universal Driver Installer:

This video shows how to install the USB drivers for ADB access for the Sony Tablet S and P. It is a fully automated installer that is much simpler than installing the complete Android SDK and editing files.

It also copies ADB to your computer and opens a command prompt in the exact folder (no more hunting around for it).

It has been tested under Windows 7 x32 and x64 and should also work for Vista and XP (see the original thread: a 2nd driver may also be required).

If you're running Windows XP, you may also need to manually install the MTP [media transfer protocol] drivers located here:

As of 2012 November, Windows 8 requires you to disable driver signing and MANUALLY install the drivers.

Open an ADMINISTRATOR Command Prompt:
To disable driver signing, copy/paste the following commands:
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

(on your desktop you'll see the watermark: "Test mode'" until you re-enable driver signing).

Re-enable driver signing:
bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF

Video guide for Windows 8 driver installation:

ADB access is needed for the recently released root exploit.
Visit the original thread for the latest information, FAQs, etc.:

Download the ZIP: [Sony Tablet S]

Once you've installed the driver and VERIFIED that your device is detected by ADB, you can attempt the root below.
