This is a collage I did based off the song titled "Green Fields of France" performed by The Merry Wives of Windsor. Before watching, please note that this film was created with the best intentions to commemorate a bloody conflict, which from my perspective, has been overshadowed and almost forgotten by the reputation of the latter confligration, the Second World War. For the younger generations to take better notice, I have combined the history of the First World War with the anime genre. There is no doubt in my mind that some, or many may find this video blasphemous, insulting, or offensive. However, let it be known that I did not assemble this clip for the sake of creating any form of offense, or to make a mockery of this very serious and heartbreaking period in history. I too am just as dedicated to the past as many others. However, I find that by using the anime genre and familiar characters to portray these historical events, the younger generation may discover the importance behind the Great War and how its significance shaped the world we live in today. I have done extensive research, including how the uniforms appeared and what the atmosphere was like on the Western Front and have gained some knowledge on the Battle of the Somme, which acts as the background to this story. If, however, this video causes outrage and anger, once again there is no malicious intention and I do humbly apologize for any offences made. However, please do not take any anger out on me or the drawings done. It took a great deal of time and effort to assemble this clip. Therefore, if you have any negative things you wish to say, please keep it to yourself and grant mercy to this blind fool whom you believe may have made a mockery of one of the greatest conflicts in world history.
