The Red Knot makes a very important stopover in New Jersey as thousands of the birds make the 10,000 mile journey from the southern tip of South America to the Arctic. The birds spend their time in the state feeding on horseshoe crabs and their eggs. Zoologists recently used nets to capture and tag the birds before releasing them so the health of their population can be assessed. (Video by Andre Malok/The Star-Ledger)
