Why were our elected officials so against giving more time to review the 165 page document that no one had time to read and study. It seems that this is a pattern and practice that reflects the old Valdosta 1860 City Charter Mentality that was (Relunctantly removed from the wall of city hall in 2004. It was a vote down racial lines and I will post the content of that charter here soon!

It read as follows: In Article 100, Section XI, it read: THAT THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL SHALL PASS ALL PROPER AND NECESSARY LAWS AND ORDINANCES FOR THE CONTROL OF SLAVES AND FREE PERSONS OF COLOR IN SAID TOWN AND SUPPRESS AND ABATE ALL NUISANCES ARRIVING FROM HOGS, DOGS, HORSES, OR OTHER STOCK STRAYING AT LARGE IN SAID TOWN, OR FROM OTHER CAUSES."

Its all about citizens right to know! Moreoer, councilman Wright was treated as if he could not read, understand and process information; as others on the council.

-- When he seem far more able to process information and understand than many others (NOW) serving on the council.

-- Why would the community not be given a chance to review the 165 page document or to know what the document was all about. Look at the faces of those that voeted against citizens right to know. In addition, if one member of the council wanted more time it seems that it should have been allowed.

-- Soon the truth about our local governments will be seen and examined by all Americans.... There was no urgent need to push a vote when council members of voters had not even a day to review the coument. This proves that ......
