February 2011 marked the release of our LED Street Light Energy Efficiency Program video, featuring the Bureau of Street Lightings' endeavor to replace 140,000 traditional street light bulbs with LED energy efficient technology. We are proud to announce that as of October 2012, the City of Los Angeles has completed the conversion of more than 100,000 street lights to LED. The city is now achieving 63 percent energy savings, amounting to 4.3 million dollars!
We are well on our way to achieve the conversion of 140,000 street lights to LED by June of next year. With the help of the Clinton Climate Initiative, the Office of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is proud to lead the largest street light retrofit program undertaken by any city in the world--LA is lighting the way!
