Heritage Day is a voluntary curriculum extension for teachers and parents.
On the last day before Thanksgiving break - ask students to bring in a story, clothing, dance, song, or food from their heritage. Create an interesting curriculum around this - maybe a cultural potluck, or an essay contest, or a show and tell presentation. Whatever it is - make it fun and interesting for kids to learn about their heritage and the heritage of others.
Heritage Day is a unique and interesting opportunity for school teachers and parents to come together in order to take stand against bigotry, racism, and cultural divide at the earliest level.
