As every day goes by, more nonprofits are facing serious financial crisis that threatens their viability and very existence. Whether it is field of cultural, human services or advocacy, communities are losing core nonprofit infrastructure that may not be able to rebuild in the foreseeable future. Communities, constituencies, government, organized philanthropy, and individual donors have tremendous investments at stake. Do funders stay on the side line and watch? Should they intervene or assist? And, if so, how and toward what end?
