This video was made about the Broad Avenue Memorial Bridge in Albany, Georgia. The bridge was finished in 1920 and dedicated to all the men from Dougherty County Georgia that served in WWI. We have an online petition to save the old bridge. Anyone, no matter where you live, may sign. Please help us keep our historic bridge. http://www.change.org/petitions/save-...
The bridge was condemned about 2 years ago. It is supposed to be demolished and replaced with a modern unattractive auto bridge. Later the city intends to build still another new auto bridge nearby. That will be 5 auto bridges, 3 within blocks of each other in a town of 77,000 people.
Our group wants this old bridge restored for pedestrian use as a part of our last remaining area of historic interest. It will become part of our unfinished Riverwalk and Riverpark area and can be used as a venue for events as well as being lit in such away as to be the work of art that it is.
Please join the fight to save a beautiful piece of history that is also a dedicated Memorial to the soldiers of WWI, all of them now gone...
