PJ Treffner - Attentive Driving
First 10 minutes of a 45-min talk on attention in driving, the dangers of distraction, and how to develop safe and "attentive driving", by the person who did the world's first study of mobile phones while driving (in real cars, not simulators).
The rest of the talk that follows the Bond videos (as seen in the above clip) features entertaining demos and interactive computer examples on attention and "inattentional blindness" so that an audience can actually experience how fragile our awareness sometimes is and how easily we can be distracted while driving. Evidence from brain studies is also given showing that in fact, contrary to popular belief, certain kinds of cognitive multitasking are not possible, and actually can be deadly (e.g., texting).
The presentation has been provided to all age groups but mostly new and young drivers in an effort to lower the accident rates due to the "leading cause of all accidents"...poor attention (80% - AA stats).
