After a few days of furious hacking the brave participants of the KDE mobile sprint at the KDAB office in Berlin managed to build a first set of experimental packages of KDE for MeeGo. We are trying them out on the Lenovo IdeaPads kindly provided to some of us during the MeeGo Conference in Dublin. This video shows Kontact Touch, a set of applications for personal information management based on KDE, running on that device. The apps were originally developed for the HTC Touch Pro 2 and the Nokia N900, but the interface, done with QtQuick/QML works surprisingly well on the tablet form factor as well. There are various rough edges, font problems and layout issues, but things look and behave rather promising already. There is full support for groupware servers like Kolab and for SMIME or PGP based signatures and encryption among other things.
