Centennial Trail is the perfect way to experience the Black Hills. Known as Trail No. 89, the trail is a lasting legacy of South Dakota's 1989 centennial year of statehood. Its 111-mile length explores the diversity of South Dakota. This is the longest trail in the Black Hills. By taking a short but steep side trail, called the Blackberry trail you can make your way to the base of Mount Rushmore. This is a difficult trail for horses unless they and their riders are use to climbing over and around rock and steep trail.
