Never realised a discarder strategy was so good against Courtney lol. She's only really a threat if she gets a T1/2 Firegiver Moltres and flips a lot of heads. But even with that, usually you should be setting up by then anyhow, so it doesn't matter much. My energy removing strategy was pretty much a perfect counter to her though, I just never realised that Golduck would actually be USEFUL for once!
Steve is in my opinion the toughest of the Grand Masters. Usually if you throw down a lightning resist in his face he will start setting up a Zapdos on you, which is really hard to take down with the fighting types. The only really good way to do so is with Dugtrio's Earthquake, but that hurts your bench and plays right into the hands of the Legendary Zapdos. That thing is a dick by the way - it's a double-edged sword as it can (and will) randomly kill your own bench too, but 70 damage for LLL that ignores weakness and resistance is devastating when coming from a 100 HP basic. It's enough to OHKO all Lightning-resistant pokémon in the game, and it resists their attacking type too for added insult. Easily the most powerful Lightning Type of the game, and potentially the most powerful card too, IF you play completely to its strengths. Even though it is random, 70 damage a turn means something is dying almost every time it attacks, and unlike Moltres it WILL do that 70 damage without fail.
Anyhow, quick heads-up - next time we'll be using the remaining two colour-pairs I have yet to use. Which means the final battle is wide open in terms of what I can use... SO I'd like to get some opinions on what people would like to see! I have something in mind for if nobody picks anything, but I'd like to see what people would be interested in seeing for the final match of the main story. So yeah, go for it!
