Hey Guys! I'm Bridget Daly for ClevverMusic, and with the end of the year just around the corner I thought it would be the perfect time to look back at some of the best new bands to hit the scene this year. So we picked our top 5 and here we go.
Coming in at number 5 we have the Band Perry. This country trio are actually all siblings. Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry signed to Republic Nashville in 2009 but their hits were all released this year, including "If I Die Young," "You Lie," and "All Your Life." And while we aren't huge country fans, we have to admit this group definitely made an impression on us so we had to include them in our list.

At number 4 we have Young the Giant. Now the band formerly known as the Jakes, have been together for a while. Their album was released back in 2010, and they have been on numerous tours, but it seems their popularity really exploded this year with their hit "Cough Syrup" getting a lot of play on the radio. Their other hit single "My Body" has charted well here as well as in Canada this year as well.
The number 3 spot goes to Mumford and Sons. These guys offer a unique sound that we just can't enough of. Their mix of folk and alternative make them a hit for almost anyone, and their pure talent makes them sound just as good live as on their record. They made huge leaps in the music world this year getting noms from almost every major awards ceremony including the Grammys, The Billboard Music Awards, The BRIT Awards, and the American Music Awards.
At number 2 we have our favorite Indie turned mainstream band of the year, Foster the People. Their claim to fame song "Pumped Up Kicks," led them to fame. Literally. Originally this band posted the song on their website for a free download. Multiple outlets picked it up including Nylon Magazine, who used it as an online advertising campaign. Not long after they were signed to Columbia Imprint, Startime International for a multi-album deal. Their first album dropped in May of this year which secures them a spot on our top 5.
And finally at number 1 we have Hot Chelle Rae. This pop-rock band formed back in 2005 in Nashville, Tennessee. Their debut album "Lovesick Electric" was released in October 2009, however they gained widespread attention for their 2011 single "Tonight, Tonight," which turned into a double platinum single. Their second album, "Whatever," was released this past November and we can only expect more great things from this band. And here's a fun fact for all you Gleeks out there, the lead guitarist and vocals Nash, is actually Chord Overstreet's brother! I guess talent runs in their family.
Well that wraps it up for our top new bands of 2011. What did you guys think? Did we leave out any of your favorites? Let us know below and make sure to keep It here to ClevverMusic for all your music news. I'm Bridget Daly and we'll catch you guys next time!
