Camilla lives a solitary existence, a grey woman, detached from the colorful world around her. On her birthday an unusual gift from her mother enlivens her bleak spirit and offers her momentum to live life to the fullest.
A. Sayeeda Clarke -- Director/Writer Sayeeda is a proud native New Yorker and graduate of NYU's Tisch MFA in Film and Television where she was a Dean's Fellow. Her current film WHITE is one of 10 films funded by ITVS for the acclaimed series FUTURESTATES and is premiering on PBS.org. WHITE has screened at SXSW, Tribeca, BAMcinemaFest, New York International Latino Film Festival, with PRECIOUS in South Africa at the Tri-Continental Film Festival and with Spike Lee's Crooklyn at The Brooklyn Bridge Film Series.
Sayeeda's previous award-winning films include SIN SALIDA (aired on HBO & HBO Latino for two years, finalist at the American Black Film Festival, craft award at The First Run Film Festival) and THE GREY WOMAN (Promotion Pictures production winner, ASC John Alonzo Heritage Award, premiered at Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater, a Hallmark short film competition winner). Sayeeda is passionate and dedicated to the art of directing, alternating between film and theater to inspire and enlighten her craft. She was an artist-in-residency with Mabou Mines co-directing Sundance Storytelling Fellow Matthew Paul Olmos' NATURE OF CAPTIVITY. Sayeeda is a member of the Actors Studio Playwrights/Directors Lab.
At NYU Sayeeda was Spike Lee's assistant and worked on the Emmy award-winning documentary, WHEN THE LEVEES BROKE. Sayeeda is currently developing the feature version of WHITE and planning to direct the feature film I'M NOT DOWN.
